Suicide v1.0
ppe for PCBoard v15.0+
This program is SHAREWARE. It is totally uncrippled, with no delays or nag screens.
If you find it of merit, a donation of $5 would be appreciated by Atlantis Software.

Disclaimer: None whatsoever. No one here is silly enough to
believe that we have to worry about a program like
this doing any damage whatsoever to your software,
system or scruples.
If anything weird happens, you got hold of a
modified (probably sabotaged) version.
Description: Will permit users to delete their own registrations (user records).
The user will have the opportunity to back out of the command.
After execution a courteous goodby screen is displayed, and the user
is tossed off the board.
The user's record will be marked for deletion in the next event and a
logfile (suicide.log) will be created (1st time) and collect the name,
alias and date of each suicide.
This also provides a quick way for the sysop to delete any user, by
logging in as the user and accessing the command.
Since this is designed to permit selfimmolation by the user, lockout is
not activated by this ppe - we leave room for a later change of heart.
Files included:
file_id.diz bbs description
suicide.doc thisfile
suicide.ppe the executable
suicide1 opening screen (allows an out)
suicide2 goodbye screen (after execution)
Installation: Recommended: add as a command to the USER menu.
1. Create a directory for the MAKEUP.PPE files
They may be in a common ppl/ppe directory,
since the filenames are all similar.
2. Unzip (or move) all MAKEUP.PPE files into
the designated directory.
If your USER menu accesses regular commands:
3. Start PCBSETUP
4. Select "B File Locations"
5. Select "B Configuration Files"
6. Select "Name/Loc of Default CMD.LST File"
7. Hit F2 to edit the CMD.LST file
8. Hit AltI to create a new entry
9. In the "Command" field, name it what you like
10. Set security if you like - use your own ideas
11. Enter the complete path to and include "SUICIDE.PPE"
12. Hit "ESC" to back out, until asked
"Save configuration files (Y/N/Q=Quick Save) ?"
13. Answer "Y" or "Q" to save the change.
If you use a .MNU file for your USER menu:
3. Activate Mkpcbmnu (USERmenuname)
4. Hit F2 twice to access the menu commands
5. In the "Keyword" field, name the command what you like
10. Set security if you like - use your own ideas
11. "Type" is PPE
12. Enter the complete path to and include "SUICIDE.PPE"
13. Hit "ESC" once to back out
14. Answer "Y" to save the change.
Then add the command and description to the displayfile for your
USER menu. PCBedit is excellent for this.
You may put it anyplace you like, of course - on a
display file, as a command, or whatever - see PCBoard
docs for ideas. Just remember that this ppe will give
the user the option of deleting his account. Once activated,
the user's record will be flagged for deletion and he will be
immediately tossed off the board!
Modification: Both the opening and goodbye screens are simple textfiles that you
may replace, modify or do with whatever you like. They are given
with the standard Atlantis BBS headers. We have no advertisements in
the screens or in the ppe itself.
Distribution: Please distribute Suicide as is, and do not provide changed
displayfiles or extra files to the archive.
Support: We can't imagine what we could help you with on something this
simple, but we're here, and you're welcome to check us out.
